Optical fiber jumpers are used to make jumpers from equipment to optical fiber cabling links. It has a thick protective layer, which is generally used for the connection between optical transceiver and terminal box, and is applied in optical fiber communication system, optical fiber access network, optical fiber data transmission, LAN and other fields

Optical fiber jumper (also known as optical fiber connector) refers to the connector plug installed on both ends of the optical cable to realize the active connection of the optical path; A plug at one end is called a pigtail. Optical Fiber Patch Cord/Cable is similar to coaxial cable, but there is no mesh shield. The center is the glass core of light transmission. In multimode fiber, the core diameter is 50 μ m~65 μ m. Roughly equal to the thickness of human hair. The diameter of single-mode fiber core is 8 μ m~10 μ m。 The core is surrounded by a glass envelope with a lower refractive index than the core to keep the optical fiber in the core. On the outside is a thin plastic jacket to protect the envelope

The classification and overview of optical fiber jumpers are as follows

What are the structures of optical fiber jumpers

There are many kinds of optical fiber jumpers (also called optical fiber connectors), that is, optical fiber connectors connected to optical modules, and they cannot be used with each other. SFP module is connected to LC optical fiber connector, while GBIC is connected to SC optical fiber connector. The following is a detailed description of several commonly used optical fiber connectors in network engineering:

① FC type optical fiber jumper: the external reinforcement method is metal sleeve, and the fastening method is turnbuckle. It is generally used on the ODF side (most used on the distribution frame)

② SC type optical fiber jumper: the connector connecting the GBIC optical module. Its shell is rectangular, and the fastening method is plug-and-pull latch type, without rotation. (Most used on router switches)

③ ST type optical fiber patch cord: commonly used in optical fiber distribution frame, the shell is round, and the fastening method is turnbuckle. (For 10Base-F connection, the connector is usually ST type. It is usually used for optical fiber distribution frame)

④ LC type fiber patch cord: the connector connecting SFP module, which is made of modular jack (RJ) latch mechanism with convenient operation. (commonly used by routers)
